Circle of Friends 2008 Summer Reunion 'Beach Bash' gets set

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 July, 2008 : - - The Surf Shack has been asked by the Wunsh Family Foundation to be the host of their Circle of Friends 2008 Summer Reunion 'Beach Bash'. The Surf Shack has titled this day 'Surfers for Life' which is taking place on July 9, 2008. There will be 74 cancer children and 9 NFL players and Alumni joining us as well from the cities that they have sponsored.

The campers are being reunited from the 2008 & 2007 Winter Week camps. The event will be held at St. Pete Beach at the Sirata Beach Resort. Our fun day at the beach includes:

- Surf lessons, body board lessons, stand up paddleboard lessons, on-shore fishing & jet skiing.
- Bennigans at Channelside - sponsoring lunch – Thanks to Christian Cook! - Volleyball - Football
- Hermit Crab Races - Pirate Treasure Hunt - Kids will have private Luau on the beach that evening.

Melissa and Jerry Wunsch are the founders of this wonderful foundation. Jerry who was an NFL player for many years, including the Tampa Bay Bucs, became sensitive to cancer patients through personal experience, losing a family member to cancer. He was touched so deeply he made a promise to himself to help children with cancer and chronic blood disorders.

His program is designed to better the lives of children who have gone through many changes while coping with their illness. The goal is to increase their self-esteem and self-confidence though self-discovery and expression. He and his wife Melissa make a lifelong commitment to helping children, therefore forming the Wunsch Family Foundation.

Their objective is to widen the reach of the program and touch the hearts of many more children. We our most honored and touched to be asked to be the sponsor of this heart warming and rewarding event. We and the Foundation kindly ask that no one go to ask for autographs or take pictures of the NFL players.

This event is focused on serving the needs of these cancer children and not the attention of the players as many of these players have graciously given their time and left their families and responsibilities from other states to be a part of this function. Therefore, requesting the attention to be on the children we are all serving and not themselves.
