Vitor Valentim and Juliana Meneghel make Rip Curl Grom Search final, in Austrália

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 July, 2008 : - - In a tight final the ‘paranaense’ of Ilha do Mel, Vitor Valentim and the ‘paulista’ Juliana Meneghel secured the men's and women's titles of the Rip Curl Grom Search 2008 on Sunday July 9th at Pitangueiras Beach in Guaruja/SP.

In the other two categories in dispute, ‘paulistas’ also raised the cup. Among the Grommets, Edgard Groggia, another local talent, already competed as a champion in advance, but ratified the prize with new victory. In ‘Iniciantes’ (maximum 14 years), Filipe Toledo celebrated the title, the third in the event (was champion Grommets in 2006 and 2007).

PRIZES: The two athletes from Mirim (maximum 16 years) and Women categories will win tickets and all the logistics to compete in the Rip Curl Grom Search International, in Australia.

Besides the transportation, they will enjoy a cultural exchange, with accommodation and food, offered by Study Way, at The Milton College, one of the most respected institutions in this country. "It's a different award, which highlights the many athletes and, above all, help transforming then in more complete citizens” said Felipe Silveira, CEO of Rip Curl in Brazil.

MAYOR : During the Sunday, the mayor of Guaruja, Farid Madi, watched the  disputes and praised the event Rip Curl Grom Search-Final in the City. "It is an honour for us. It elevates our city. “We are very honored”, he said.
