Oxbow officially launches in the US, Laird hits Santa Monica     > Francaise ci-dessous

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 July, 2008 : - - On July 20, French surfwear company, Oxbow, officially celebrated the launch of the brand in the U.S. with the grand opening of its Santa Monica store: the first to open in the U.S. The public had a chance to meet the legendary big wave surfer, LAIRD HAMILTON, and take away personally signed DVDs.

A pioneer of sports fashion apparel, Oxbow was founded in 1985 and is recognized as one of the major international surfwear brands. The brand offers fashionable surfwear collections for both Men and Women and is currently experiencing strong worldwide growth based on its successful retail and wholesale strategy.

"This is a major and long awaited move for Oxbow. Driven by the elegance of longboard and the exploring spirit of Laird Hamilton, we are convinced that Oxbow can be successful in the USA” explained Oxbow’s CEO, Eric Bonnem.

To execute its wholesale strategy, Oxbow will work with the best surf retailers around the country and in September will launch the Spring/Summer 09 collections at the ASR show in San Diego. During this event, Laird Hamilton will be in attendance at Oxbow’s booth for signing sessions and to speak of his 18 year old experience with the brand.

“Oxbow and I have been together almost 20 years: since 1990 and my first experimentations with tow-in surfing in Maui in 1990 to the millennium wave in Teahupoo in 2001. Today, I am very proud to be associated with the launch of the brand in the U.S.” said Laird Hamilton.

To conclude this historic year, in November Oxbow will inaugurate the second stage of its World Longboard Tour at the famous San Onofre beach in San Clemente, where they will welcome the top 48 longboarders to continue their competition for the world title following the successful first leg this April in France.

Oxbow se lance aux Etats-Unis avec la légende du surf Laird Hamilton

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 July, 2008 : - - Le 20 juillet dernier, Oxbow a officiellement célébré le lancement de sa marque aux Etats-Unis avec l’ouverture à Santa Monica de son premier magasin américain ! A cette occasion, le public a eu la chance de rencontrer la  légende du surf Laird Hamilton autour d’une séance de dédicace. 

Créée en 1985, Oxbow est aujourd’hui l’une des marques de surf les plus reconnues, offrant une collection à la  fois mode et technique, pour l’homme et la femme. A l’image de son implantation aux Etats-Unis, la marque  connaît actuellement un fort développement international.

“Il s’agit d’une évolution majeure et longtemps attendue par Oxbow. Inspirée par l’élégance du longboard et par notre icône, Laird Hamilton, nous sommes convaincus qu’Oxbow va connaître un grand succès aux Etats-Unis” explique Eric Bonnem, Directeur Général d’Oxbow.

Pour assurer son développement, Oxbow souhaite s’associer aux meilleurs « Surf shops » américains et présentera sa nouvelle collection Printemps-Eté 2009, en septembre à l’occasion de l’ASR Show de San Diego. Au cours de cet événement, Laird Hamilton sera présent sur le stand Oxbow pour partager ses 18 ans d’expérience aux côtés de la marque.

“Oxbow m’accompagne depuis presque 20 ans, de mes premières expérimentations en Tow-in à Maui en 1990 jusqu’à la vague légendaire que j’ai surfé à Teahupoo en 2001. Aujourd’hui je suis vraiment fier d’être associé au lancement de la marque aux Etats-Unis”, confie Laird Hamilton.

Pour conclure cette année historique, Oxbow organisera en novembre prochain la seconde étape du Championnat du Monde de Longboard qui se tiendra à San Clemente sur la célèbre plage de San Onofre. Après Anglet, première étape de ce circuit mondial, les 48 meilleurs longboarders se retrouveront donc en Californie pour tenter de décrocher le titre de Champion du Monde de Longboard 2008.
