Body Glove National Sales Manager Paddles it Out in Molokai
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 31 July, 2008 : - - Redondo Beach, Ca -- Here at Body Glove we work with a really incredible group of watermen and women, the love of our waterways extends throughout our company. Matt Walls, National Wetsuits Sales Manager, just returned from Hawaii where he participated 12th Annual QuiksilverEdition Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Race where he took 3rd place in 40+ stock division.
It’s fitting since our founder, Bob Meistrell, went on a 125ft. wreck dive this week for his 80th birthday. The QuiksliverEdition Molokai race is considered one of the most grueling and physically straining paddleboard races on the circuit. It is a 32-mile rough water race across the Kaiwi Channel that separates the Hawaiian islands of Molokai and Oahu, from Kaluakoi to Koko Head.
This Hawaiian Island race tests not just your stamina but also your wave riding skills in the open ocean. So what’s it like to do so well in the most physically demanding paddleboard race out there? “It feels great,” says Matt Walls, “I’m really happy with my accomplishment. It’s really something to put your mind to a task like this and reach your goals”.
Fellow Body Glove paddleboarder Kyle Daniels stormed to 1st place in the 30-39 unlimited division and an impressive 5th place overall. He is the reigning U.S. Champion and won the 2007 Catalina Classic Race. Not bad for some boys from the South Bay. Congratulations Matt and Kyle and keep paddling.
