RVCA Series NSSA Lahaina Harbor's Five Star Goes Down With Big Number Of Competitors

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 21 August, 2008 : - - Another great contest at Lahaina Harbor from dawn to dust over the past weekend. The first day of the event  saw some very contestable conditions. Typical morning glass and  waist to chest high sets with the occasional head high bomb.  This being a highly rated 5-star event, most of the top Hawaii amateurs showed at Lahaina for the event.

Mid-day Maui saw a slow down but as the evening came around,  the surf kicked into high gear with beautiful glassy consistent head high sets.  A 10 point ride was the highlight on the first day with Maui’s Tanner Hendrickson as well as scooping up wins in the Open Men, Explorer Juniors and Explorer Men.

Alss coming off her huge U.S. Open win, Kauai’s Malia Manuel took both the Open and Explorer Women. Another Kauai contender, Maluhia Kinimaka showed the harbor crowd where the future of the girls is by winning the Explorer division. Kolohe Andino from San Clemente has also made the commitment this year to run with the RVCA NSSA Hawaii Series as he took the Open Junior as well as a runner-up in both the Explorer Boys and Juniors.

A huge weekend at the Harbor for the 5 Star event and the 160 plus competitors.
