Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 August, 2008 : - - Hossegor -- From August 28 to September 1, when the world’s best 17 surfers will be in France for the year’s 4th stop (of 8) on the ASP Women’s World tour. The contest is the girls’ only event in Europe for 2008 and one of the year’s most popular stops.

THE PRO JUNIOR: RIP CURL HOSTS THE NEXT GENERATION OF GIRL'S SURFING
August 26 and 27 will be the days to watch Europe’s professional junior champions compete at les Bourdaines. The winner of the Pro Junior will earn the prized ‘Wildcard’ entry into the main event of the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle. The spot will put you the youngster in Round 1 against the event’s Top Seed.

Dedicated to searching for and grooming new talent, Rip Curl has got five young surfers in its pro junior team – all of whom are competing on the ASP Junior Tour and at this event.

THE BEST SURF TANDEM COUPLES IN HOSSEGOR/SEIGNOSSE!
From August 25 to 27, Tandem Surfing will step into the spotlight at the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle. The event will host one of the 15 stages of the World Tandem Tour (WTT ).

Born in 1920 at Hawaii’s famous Waikiki beach, this discipline was recognized by the FFS (French Surfing Federation) in 2003 and the creation of the International Tandem Surfing Association (ITSA) followed in 2006.

As aesthetically pleasing as it is spectacular, tandem surfing is finally being recognized as a real sport. The Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle is proud to have the world’s best tandem couples compete in the powerful waves of the Landaise coast!
