It all looks promising for the Gul Open at Porthmeor on the 30th of August

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 August, 2008 : - - You should all be aware that the Gul International is staging its tour event at Porthmeor Beach in St Ives Cornwall on the 30th and 31st of August. Once again the UKPST and Gul are teaming up together to promote British surfing and continue to assist in developing the surfing talents we have in Europe.

The competition its self comprises of several categories showcasing the best in both men’s and ladies open surfing as well as allowing the groms to display their skills and talents.

The competition will attract the UK’s Top professional surfers and various international competitors from around the globe all with their eyes firmly fixed on the £2850 prize purse and the valuable tour ranking points.  Also ‘Relentless’ energy drink, one of the Pro Surf Tours main sponsors will be giving a cash prize for the best move of the competition.

British champion and Gul team rider Mark Egor Harris he says, “I’m really looking forward to the event and getting back to the top of the leader board”. The swell has been promising this august so the conditions hopefully will be okay and we can witness some of the best surfing in the UK.

Gul international have teamed up with the Tate Gallery St Ives to put on a launch party for the event on the evening of the 29th of August. The venue will be the roof terrace of the Tate over looking Porthmeor beach and the competition area. Live dj’s, Bar and BBQ will be available. The doors will be open from 7.30pm to the general public. Gul would love to see all surfing enthusiasts attending.

Other activities include an after party at the Hub in St Ives on the night of the 30th of August. The Hub will be providing its usual party atmosphere and Gul will be providing various give always including a winter wetsuit. The doors will be opening at 7.30pm everybody is welcome so we look forward to seeing you there.
