Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation announces Surf For A Cause

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 August, 2008 : - - The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation announced the 8th Annual 'Surf For A Cause' surf and beach festival to be held on September 6th, 2008 in front of Lucy the Elephant in Margate, NJ. 

“This is going to be the biggest and best event we have had to date since Dean has been recovering from his latest bout with cancer,” said event chairperson, Dan Cellucci, “there is really something for everyone this year.”

The Surf for a Cause is a family event and includes a surf contest with a professional surfing division, a volleyball tournament and lots of other fun at the beach. 

This year’s sponsors include Harrison Beverage, Bud Light, Leeds Builders, Marketplace Realty, Copiers Plus, Surfers Supplies, Heritage Surf and Sport, 7th Street Surf Shop, Offshore Surf & Extreme, TK Shapes, Dino’s Subs, Center City Sports, The Backyard Hotel, Sea Snake Surfboards, Rick Ford, Herbert Levin & Bruce Sharp, The City of Margate,NJ, Rossetti Roofing, and WJSE 102.7 The Ace.

Entry fee for the surf contest is $45.00 for pre-registration and $55.00 for beach registration the day of the event and the fee is tax deductible.  However, event organizers are recommending pre-registration due to the limited number of slots in the tournament.  The annual surf contest will begin with registration promptly at 7:00 a.m.

Following the event, there is an after party at Maynard’s in Margate beginning at 6:30 p.m. with live music, food and drink specials.  You must be 21 years or older to attend.  Tickets for the after party are $20.00 at the door.  There will also be a raffle with fantastic prizes. 

The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation is a New Jersey Non Profit and 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.  The Foundation was created 7 years ago when New Jersey Professional Surfer, Dean Randazzo was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes. 

Since successfully battling the disease twice, Dean continues his competitive professional surfing career, proudly representing the Garden State all over the world. 

Donations to the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation are used to fund cancer research, promote cancer awareness and assist individuals battling cancer both financially and emotionally.  To date, the Foundation has donated over $65,000.00 to individuals and organizations such as the Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer Fund, Shore Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, Gilda’s Club of South Jersey and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of South Jersey.
