STRONG SOUTH SHORE SWELL GREETS COMPETITORS

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 September, 2008 : - - Honolulu -  One of the largest swells to hit Oahu's South Shore this summer will greet competitors tomorrow morning for event No.2 of the Hard Rock Cafe Surf Series, presented by the Hawaii Surfing Association (HSA). Competition will run both Saturday and Sunday and waves are forecast to hold in the range of 4-8 feet.

This series is open to male and female competitors, both amateur and professional, in a variety of divisions. The final heats of each division will be held across both days. Divisions represented in the Hard Rock Cafe Surf Series are: Shortboard - men and women, individual age groups, Longboard - men and women, individual age groups, Bodyboard - men's individual age groups, open women. Stand-up Paddle Surfing - open

The Hard Rock Cafe Surf Series is comprised of the following events:

#1: Queen's, Waikiki, August 9 & 10, 2008 - finished
#2: Straight Out, Kewalo's, Honolulu, September 6 & 7, 2008
#3: Ala Moana Courts, Honolulu, October 4 & 5, or 11 & 12, 2008
#4: Rennick, Kewalo's, Honolulu, November 8 & 9, or 15 & 16, 2008
#5: Makaha Beach, West Side Oahu, December 13 & 14, or 20 & 21, 2008 - by Quiksilver
#6: Sandy Beach, Honolulu, January 12 & 13, 2009
#7: Sunset Beach or White Plains, February 8, 9, & 15, 2009
#8: Haleiwa Ali'i Beach, North Shore Oahu, March 22 & 23, or 29 & 30, 2009
#9: Kewalo's, Honolulu, May 3 & 4, 2009 - presented by Quiksilver
#10: Ala Moana Bowls (Invitational State Championship), June 2, 3, 4 & 5, 2009 - by Burger King.

An event summary and results will be distributed at the close of each competition.
