Surfing South Africa announces names of National Junior Trialists
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 October, 2008 : - - The National Junior selectors of Surfing South Africa , Cecil Solomon (convener), Ant Brodowicz, Cyril Nel and Graham Hynes, have announced the names of the surfers who will participate in selection trials which will be used to choose the 2009 South African Junior team which will compete in the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Championships in Ecuador.
The trials for the Under 18 girls will take place at the Seal Point beach break on November 22 and the Under 18 and Under 16 Boys will surf trials at Port Alfred on November 29 and 30.Nine surfers have been selected in each of the three divisions and the team will be made up of four surfers in each group.
The nine Under 18 Boys who will compete for the four places in the side are Devin Lane and Beyrick de Vries (both KZN), Matthew Bromley, Brendon Gibbens and JC Susan (all WP), Shaun Joubert, Dale Staples and Indi Rooken Smith (all S/Cape) and Nick Godfrey (EP). The Under 18 Girls are Sarah Baum, Kirsty Delport and Heidi Palmboom (all KZN), Alice and Laurie McGregor (both Border), Tanika Hoffman and Holly Armstrong (both WP), Bianca Buitendag (S/Cape) and Faye Zoetmulder (EP).

The four Under 16 Boys in the 2009 SA Junior Team will come from Michael February, Davey Brand, Jarred Veldhuis (all WP), Dane Staples, Steven Sawyer, Dylan Lightfoot (all EP), David Van Zyl, Slade Prestwich (both KZN) or Diran Zakarian (Boland). The trialists were announced at the prize-giving of the Reef SA National Junior championships were completed at St Michaels on Sea in Southern KZN last Sunday.
