    Beachley Classic Round 3 Back ON at Manly Beach 8:30am Start

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 October, 2008 : - - Manly Beach, Australia – Round 3 of the Beachley Classic, stop No. 5 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, is preparing to hit the water for an 8:30am start in clean two-to-three foot (1 metre) wind swell at the primary site at Manly Beach.

    “We have a really consistent two-to-thee foot Northeast wind swell this morning and we’ll be looking to recommence Round 3 at 8:30am,” Matt Wilson, Beachley Classic Contest Director, said. “We’re hoping to complete Round 3 with the Quarterfinals on standby.” Yesterday saw Julia De La Rosa Toro (PER), 26, and Amee Donohoe (AUS), 27, take out the opening two heats of Round 3 and today will see the top seeds all vie for a Quarterfinals berth.

    Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 20, reigning ASP Women’s World Champion and current No. 1 on the ASP Women’s World Tour ratings, will face Oakley Trials Winner and wildcard Tyler Wright (AUS), 14, in Heat 4 of Round 3. Sofia Mulanovich (PER), 25, former ASP Women’s World Champion and current No. 2 on the ASP Women’s World Tour, will face 2008 Dream Tour rookie Karina Petroni (USA), 20, in Heat 5 or Round 3.

    Layne Beachley (AUS), 36, former seven-time ASP Women’s World Champion and current No. 3 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour ratings, will square off against fellow veteran Melanie Redman-Carr (AUS), 33, in the final heat of Round 3. When Beachley Classic competition resumes, Jessi Miley-Dyer (AUS), 22, will battle Jacqueline Silva (BRA), 29, in Heat 3 of Round 3.
