Nuqui Latin Pro: Surfing The Jungle           >  Espanol|  |  Portugues

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 October, 2008 : - - After the competition in Venezuela, the ALAS Tour will prepare suitcases and surfboards to arrive at Nuqui-Colombia to Surf in the jungle from 13 to 17 of Nov.

For the first time in the history of ALAS, the Colombian Pacific will be the scene of the ninth stop of the Latin American Surf Tour. Nuqui Latin Pro Colombia 'Surfing the Jungle', 5 stars, waiting with open arms and the wonder of its landscape to the best exponents of Latin surfing.

Nuqui, located on the magical beach Chocó, is rated as one of the best waves of Colombia. 'Pico de Loro' is how they called the wave, a rocky bottom left of a tubular start and supporting all the swells are its main features without forgetting that the habitat around it is simply incredible.

The organizers of the event and responsible have built packages for the cost per competitor is more economical, since this event will be in the virgin forest of the Colombian Pacific, with a trading block with an airline that arrives in the region, with the lodges and ecolodge and the boats to get to the surf spot.

The media will be present to Fox Sports, ESPN +, Surfer Magazine, Surfing Magazine, RCN, Caracol, Canales Colombians, El Tiempo, El Colombiano and the web page iguanamar.com

Nuqui: A remote exotic place, where sea water is 28 degrees in temperature and diversity of landscape and ecosystem provides us with rivers, waterfalls, wildlife, humpback whales, waves that burst almost all year without a single surfer in the water and bathrooms springs to 500 meters from the beach to relax after a day of wild waves.

The wave: Pico de Loro is the name of the peak where will the competition, left uncovered a few years ago by one of the organizers of the event. The wave breaks over the reef rounded rocks, works best at low tide, but it is left to surf at all tides, especially if the swell from 5 feet. The swells from the south west (SW) are the ones that work best, they dominated from April to December. Periods of more than 13 seconds are common in the area, reaching up to 22.

Security:  Nuqui is a town constantly visited by European tourists and nationals, the Colombian Navy provided security in the region both in the area of accommodation (tourist area) and in the surf, it is common to see soldiers who walk the beaches so friendly and greet not disrupt the activities of visitors.

Medellin: City Connection.  Call The City of Eternal Spring, 25 degrees centigrade on average in the day, 3000 000 people, friendly people and willing, enterprising, you can enjoy malls, restaurants, bars with good atmosphere
