First Stoke chats with '09 ASP World Tour Surfer Tim Boal
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 13 November, 2008 : - - FirstStoke.com recently caught up with French surfer and Pukas Surfboards team rider Tim Boal, who recently qualified for the 2009 ASP World Tour. Tim talked about how it felt to make the tour, what the world should expect from him in 2009, and more.
FS: What was the first thing you thought when you qualified for the 2009 ASP World Tour?
TB: I just thought it was a great moment and the best part was to think of everything that came before that, all the work and hope, etc. And then I was already thinking about next year’s contests.
FS: How will your mindset change in order to compete on the ASP World Tour?
TB: I’ll just try my best and not regret anything. I’m not worried about results or points and I don’t expect anything at all, I have my goals and I’ll try my best to achieve them.
FS: What impact does having Jeremy Flores and Miky Picon as well as the other Europeans with you on the tour?
TB: It’s good to see so many Europeans, some of us will travel together but the best thing is just to see that there are more Europeans now than Brazilians, South Africans, etc. Europe is a strong region now.

FS: What do you think is the biggest reason for the emergence of Europeans in professional surfing?
TB: I think it is because we have a big industry and it was only a matter of time before Europe got big on the surf scene. We have so many countries and the mix I think makes for great surfers.
FS: What do you think about the new contest format that will be adopted for the 2009 ASP World Tour?
TB: I think it’s good for some events but I like having the first round, it’s good for the public and the internet. It doesn’t really change much though.
FS: Which contest are you most looking forward to next year?
TB: I look forward to all of the events but especially those in Europe and the Gold Coast.
FS: Any last words?
TB: Thanks to my sponsors, Reef, Red Bull, Pukas, Oakley, Da Kine and Surfersvillage. My parents and my friends. Have fun and do the best you can.
