Reef Hawaiian Pro takes a break, awaits arrival of new NW swell

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 November, 2008 : - - Haleiwa, Oahu -- Following three back-to-back days of superb competition at the Reef Hawaiian Pro last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the event is now on standby awaiting better surf conditions, set to resume later this week - possibly as early as Wednesday.

Today the swell along the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, is from a northerly direction which is completely unfavorable for Haleiwa's Ali'i Beach Park.

A new, moderate NW swell is slated to arrive Wednesday - possibly late in the day. Contest organizers will continue to assess conditions every morning, with a call made by 7 a.m. Check triplecrownofsurfing.com for morning updates or sign up for daily mobile text alerts HERE.

When competition does resume, the men's division will pick up with round four and the entrance of the top seeds, and the women's division will resume with quarter finals. Two full days of competition remain at the Reef Hawaiian Pro. To examine surf updates for the coming days, visit official forecasters Wetsand.com .

The $815,000 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing consists of the Reef Hawaiian Pro, Haleiwa, Nov. 12-23 (6* WQS, men and women), the O'Neill World Cup of Surfing, Sunset Beach, Nov.24-Dec.6 (6*WQS men), The Roxy Pro, Sunset Beach, Nov.24-Dec.6 (WCT women), the Billabong Pipeline Masters (men), Pipeline, Dec. 8-20 (WCT); and the Billabong Pro Maui (women), Honolua Bay, Maui, Dec. 8-20 (WCT).
