Finisterre’s first Cover…Ian Battrick
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 November, 2008 : - - St Agnes, North Cornwall -- In the surf magazine world, covers are the holly grail of coverage and Ian’s managed to secure one with Finisterre on board.
“We’ve only been running with Ian for a few months now and he’s already achieving some amazing turnouts – so stoked for you Ian and congratulations!” said Marketing Director Ernest Capbert.
Since 2002, Finisterre has been developing exclusive fabrics, working with suppliers and manufacturers to build more ethical ways of doing business and also winning some awards along the way. 2008 saw them winning the ISPO Brand New Award, being nominated for the ISPO Eco-design award, taking home the Surfer’s Path Green Wave Award and winning the Observer Ethical Award.
Whilst products and a conscience are paramount, the people behind Finisterre have always been first and foremost. The newest character behind the small Cornish brand is Ian Battrick, known to charge heavy cold water spots right through the British Isles and further afield. The relationship has been one that has grown over the last few years and this past autumn they decided to solidify things and add yet another ambassador to the stables.
“Over the years we’ve continued to grow, have met some inspiring individuals along the way and have found ourselves achieving many firsts, in terms of our products design, fabrics we use and awards we’ve won. And it looks as if we’re looking to achieve yet another milestone, we’ve heard it through the grapevine that Ian Battrick (our newest Ambassador addition), has just secured the cover of Wavelength” said Finisterre’s Founder – Tom Kay.
