Roxy Pro Competition Called Off Today, Event Organizers Look to Friday
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 November, 2008 : - - Sunset Beach, Hawaii -- For the third day in a row, small surf and inconsistent conditions have once again prompted event organizers to call Roxy Pro competition off for the day, meaning that the next possible start will be Friday, November 28, as there will be no competition tomorrow in honor of Thanksgiving.
“Small surf has greeted us once again this morning and no competition will be held today,” Randy Rarick, Vans Triple Crown Event Director, said. “There will be no competition tomorrow as it is Thanksgiving so we’ll all be back on Friday morning for a possible start. We’re expecting sizable surf over the weekend so we anticipate action to commence in the coming days.”
The second stop on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series), the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach is also stop No. 7 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour and plays a vital role in the hunt for the 2008 ASP Women’s World Title.
Event organizers will reconvene Friday morning at 7am local time for a possible 8am start.

Tuesday Update: Another Lay Day for Roxy Pro Sunset, Possible Start Tomorrow
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 November, 2008 : - - Sunset Beach, Hawaii -- Despite slightly improved surf in the three-to-four foot (1 metre) range on offer at Sunset Beach this morning, another lay day has been called for the Roxy Pro citing inconsistent conditions.
Event No. 7 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach marks the second stop on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series), but today’s sporadic pulses in swell and the forecast of increasing surf coming throughout the next days prompted event organizers to call competition off for the day.
“The swell we have been tracking hasn’t properly arrived yet so we’ve called competition off for the day,” Randy Rarick, Vans Triple Crown Event Director, said. “We expect this swell to fill in a bit more throughout the day and will be back tomorrow morning at 7am to make another call.”
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7am local time for a possible 8am start. The waiting period for the Roxy Pro Sunset runs through December 6, 2008. The Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach will be webcast LIVE via triplecrownofsurfing.com. For more information, log onto aspworldtour.com
