ALAS reflects on 2008, announces 2009 tour schedule

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 December, 2008 : - - The 2008 ended with a period in which the Latin American Tour congratulated the winners of each stops and crowned the four absolute Champions.

It was a year of surprises, exciting series, friendship and a lot of union, which culminated with excellent surfers who, with a huge happiness, raised their board in the podium of Costa Rica.  For 2009 is near to start as the Tour. In this next year, new destinations and others places came together, however, the main objective will be arrive at the best waves of Latin America.

The Latin American Association of Professional Surfers and set the first stop. The ALAS Tour 2009 will begin in late January in San Bartolo, Peru, where Latinos shouldn’t only strive for a good position for ALAS ranking, also it could help to add points for the World Qualifying Series (WQS) . In this way, the Latin American Association of Professional Surfers will make an event in a hand of the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals).

The first event, designated as 'Copa Movistar, Rip Curl and Samsung', this event is qualified for 6-star ALAS to the category Open and Woman. This excellent start of the Tour, will take place from 22 to 25 in the first month of next year.

After this competition, the Reef Classic Ecuador will wait for the best Latin surfers from 9 to Feb. 14 and then, the south of Latin America will open its doors from 18 to 22 of the same month, for the Reef Classic Chile
