    Missing surf shop owner located

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 December, 2008 : - - St. Lucie Conty, Fla - A missing St. Lucie County surf shop owner has been located alive near beachside park where his truck was found today. Bruce Strunk, 56, was found about a mile south of the South A1A beachside park where his pickup truck was found earlier today. Authorities are trying to figure out how he got there.

Bruce Strunk, 56, was last seen by family members around 9 a.m. this morning when he left the Spunky’s Surf Shop he owns on 1403 North U.S. 1 in St. Lucie County to make a bank deposit, according to a sheriff’s report. He was driving a blue 2006 Dodge Ram pickup. He made the deposit at the bank but never returned to the surf shop. Family members who searched for him found the truck parked at John Brooks Park on Hutchinson Island.

Deputies and the U.S. Coast Guard searched for Strunk by using a helicopter equipped with an infrared scanner, according to the report. They found him in a patch of heavy weeds and brush about a mile south of where his truck had been found around 9:20 p.m. Officials said late Friday they were not sure of Strunk’s condition, but that he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477.
