Sofia Mulanovich claims Copa Movistar Pro San Bartolo  |  Espanol  |  Portugues

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 February, 2009 : - - In 2 to 3 foot glassy surf, Peruvian national treasure Sofia Mulanovich edged out Anali Gomez to take the Copa Movistar Pro in San Bartolo Peru.

Movistar Pro San Bartolo Peru 2009 is organized by Teatrico Productions and Peru Surf, presented by Rip Curl, Samsung, Gatorade and Brahma, sponsored by Pepsi, Volkswagen Amsa, CDM channel 3, Wayo Whillar, Braedt and Patagonia Footwear, supported by FENTA, Municipality of San Bartolo, Peñascal Rockbar and Club de tabla San Bartolo, and endorsed by: Association of Surfing Proffesionals (ASP) and Latin American Association of Professional Surfers (ALAS)

About Latin American Association of Professional surfers: The Latin American Association of Professional surfers is the entity that governs the professional surfing tour of the region crowning annually to the Latin American champions in the categories: Open Men, Woman Open, Pro Junior (Under 20) and Longboard. ALAS was founded with the purpose to promote, develop and encourage the sport of surfing throughout Latin America, with the main objective to raise our technical and competitive level.

The Tour travels across the continent throughout the year generating stops at every strategic location, where the most outstanding surfers of the region are competing to accumulate points for entry to the prestigious Top 16 of the Tour and become, as the final goal in the Latin American Champion. The countries where it has developed the Latino Professional Tour are: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

ALAS borders unites over 15 countries in the region with the vision to develop surfing as a professional sport, a lifestyle linked to preserve and conserve our surf waves, beaches and their natural surroundings.
