The Ron House Stand Up Paddle Divisions expected to provide spectacular sights at the Hyundai Malfunction Surf Festival
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 March, 2009 : - - The high visibility of surfers catching waves on stand up paddleboards has created easily the most spectacular sights in any surfing event nowadays. This year the Hyundai Malfunction has expanded from running only a surfing division for the stand up paddle surfers to adding a race from Cabarita to Kingscliff as well.
With over $2,350 prizemoney The Ron House Stand Up Paddle divisions are expected to attract various watermen from different surfing disciplines.
Past Malfunction champion Ray Gleave is among many of the high profile competitors that will be sure to attract a lot of attention when they hit the water, as will renown paddler Woogie Marsh, and former Australian longboard champion Justin Redman who pundits in West Australia have been raving about his surfing on a SUP. World Champion paddler Nathan Myers, retro guru Guy Walker and young gun Beau Nixon are others expected to be worth watching.
On hand to watch this years surfing and racing will be one of the pioneers of SUP boards expert shaper Ron House who brings to Australia his vast knowledge shaping gained from over 40 years in the industry. Ron and his support crew have been attracted to attend what is being billed as “the premium SUP event for the year, here in Australia” by David McCarthy from Greenline Paddle Surf.
