GSI Noosa Festival of Surfing 2009 set for great weekend of finals

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 March, 2009 : - - First Point Noosa Heads continued to serve up excellent clean small waves today and with a further increase in swell forecast for the entire weekend the finals are set to  be spectacular.

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Golden Breed Pro and Banana Boat Women’s Pro finals will definitely run tomorrow starting at 11:45am for the Banana Boat final and immediately followed by the Men’s Golden Breed final at 12:15pm.

Taylor Jensen and Christian Wach, both USA Californian based surfers will take on local hero’s Harrison Roach and Josh Constable in the Golden Breed final and a large crowd are certain to line Noosa’s First Point to cheer on the local boys. Chelsea Williams (AUS, Tweed Heads/NSW) will be chasing her fourth Banana Boat win tomorrow and the current ASP World number two rated Women’s Longboarder is eager to surf.

 “I’m  really pleased they have waited for better waves and tomorrow should be a great final to surf. My chances of winning are definitely better in bigger waves and already we’re seeing the swells starting to increase.” While the professionals sit in waiting for their finals, the action has continued throughout the day with numerous amateur  divisions competing today highlighted by the juniors who revelled in the long peeling fast waves today.

With all divisions down to semi finals and finals stage and the excellent surf forecast this year’s GSI Noosa Festival of Surf is set to enjoy a great final weekend.
