Toes on the Nose signs on three new team riders
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 April, 2009 : - - Newport Beach, Ca -- Classic surf brand Toes on the Nose announced today the signing of three new team riders to its professional surfing team. Kapono Nahina, Darren Eudaly and Lindsey Steinriede Engle join the Toes team that includes reigning World longboard Champion Joy Monahan and surf legend Rabbit Kekai.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be adding such exceptional talent to our team,” said Toes on the Nose president, Richard Allred. “Nahina, Eudaly and Engle share our quintessential surf spirit and dedication to the sport. All three of them bring something unique to the team and are a natural fit with Toes on the Nose.”
From the North Shore of Oahu, 29-year-old Kapono Nahina has been surfing for more than a decade. He is two-time State Longboard Champion, two-time U.S. Longboard Champion, fifth in the world in 2000, and second overall in the ASP Hawaii ratings for 2005.
Nahina said, “I'm stoked to be a part of a great program. I can't wait to travel, compete and surf to support Toes on the Nose in a positive and influential way.”
With more than 20 years of surfing, Darren Eudaly has had some impressive accomplishments, including most recently placing 5th in the Open Pro Division of the 2009 Noosa Festival of Surfing. However, the Laguna Beach native prefers to enjoy the sport without a contest jersey most of the time.
When asked about signing with Toes on the Nose, Eudaly said, “Stoked! Good people, good clothes, good times! A solid company that puts back into surfing and who truly represents the stoke of the surf culture. They respect my surfing and support me in something that I love doing - It's hard to find such a company. I'm very grateful and stoked to be involved with the whole Toes on the Nose group. It's an awesome scene.”
Dana Point native Lindsay Steinriede Engle has been surfing for 17 years. Engle has secured a slew of notable contest results such as the Champion of the 2006 ASP US Women’s Longboard and second place in the 2007 ASP North America Ratings, as well as most recently securing fifth at the 2009 Noosa Surfing Festival, Australia.
About Toes on the Nose: Toes on the Nose, a surf apparel company dedicated to the history and soul of surfing, offers a wide array of products including men’s, women’s, swimwear, children’s and accessories. Inspired by the art of nose riding, John Severson, the renowned surf artist and founder/publisher of Surfer magazine, coined the phrase and designed the logo “Toes on the Nose” for his Surfer Quarterly magazine back in 1961.
The logo was used for an editorial column entitled “Toes on the Nose” depicting the classic maneuver of the surfer’s toes hanging off the edge of the surfboard. With Surfer magazine’s blessing, Toes on the Nose was established in 1992 in Laguna Beach, California, with the mission to define its image through the definitive soul and style of longboarding. Today, Toes on the Nose continues this tradition, catering to the surfer who wants the clean and classic style reflecting the simplicity of earlier times.
