Quiksilver 6-Star prime events push around WQS ratings
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 April, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Two major ASP WQS events, both sponsored in part or whole by Quiksilver, were completed this week with Brazilians taking both titles.
In Durban, at the ASP WQS 6-Star PRIME Quiksilver Pro Durban, Jadson Andre defeated Owen Wright from Australia. Semifinalists were also Aussies, Julian Wilson and Matt Wilkinson. Local Kyle Lane defeated Hawaiian Kiron Jabour in the ASP Pro Junior division.
Meanwhile in the same time zone, but way north in Portugal at the ASP WQS 6-Star Estoril Quiksilver Pro, Brazil’s Alejo Muniz defeated Japan’s Masa Ohno. This is the first time a Japanese surfer has come second in a major ASP WQS event. Equal thirds were Marlon Lipke from Germany and Romaine Cloitre from Reunion Island.
For both Jadson and Alejo, it is their first ASP WQS win.
