Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 April, 2009 : - - The Discovery Coast’s top surfers are about to unleash on Agnes Water. A 50-strong contingent will converge on the northern most point break on the east coast of Australia for this weekend’s Bradnam’s Windows and Doors Agnes Water Longboard Festival.
The second-annual event, which celebrates the development of surfing in the region, will make a splash with only two days of competition across a three-day event window. Contest organisers at Surfing Queensland will make the trek to the region after a successful finale to last year’s inaugural festival.
Surfing Queensland Event Manager Scott Gillies says he’s excited to again make the trip to Agnes. “The region has seen considerable growth in the past few years, so it’s great that we’re able to service the region with an annual event.” The three-day, long weekend event is designed to be a really social affair, but is also a perfect event for Discovery Coast locals to have their first crack at competition surfing.
Adding to the festival’s already high stakes will be a large surf party and social night held at the Kahunas Pizza Bar and Grill, which is a big draw card for the locals. With under a week to go to the first heat, Surfing Queensland is still encouraging interested locals to get their entries in and enjoy the social atmosphere the weekend promotes.
