Surfing Heritage Foundation offers new “Stimulus” ticket pricing $20 advance, $15 student
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 June, 2009 : - - San Clemente Ca -- Folks who associate Surf Art with magazine illustrations, cartoons, and T-shirt designs will find confirmation in the work of Rick Rietveld. His shirt designs for Maui and Sons were iconic, his surf competition posters, fantasy prints, and illustrations have graced walls from dorm rooms to board rooms. But far beyond the work of a journeyman artist, Rietveld’s paintings explore romance, sensuality and the rugged outdoors in themes ranging from rodeo to dragons. Examples of Rietvelds’s art will be part of a month long show beginning June 5 at the Surfing Heritage Foundation, San Clemente. That night Rick Rietveld will join Kevin Ancell, Wolfgang Bloch, Kevin Short, Alex Weinstein and others in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Surf Art. Discussing the people, art, and waves that have influenced and inspired them, the artists will share some of the techniques that make their work unique. Show opens at 6:30PM, Friday, June 05; symposium begins at 7:15. Hors d’oeuvres and no-host bar; NOW advance tickets, $20, students $15. Proceeds will benefit the non-profit Surfing Heritage Foundation, 949 388 0313 ex. 0, online at surfingheritage.org
