Maresia sponsors Surf Open Portuguese Championship

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 June, 2009 : - - Maresia will be the main sponsor of the last stage of the 2009 Surf Open Portuguese Championship. The competition will be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th December, at Nazaré and promises a new impulse and added value to all surfers who participate in the Surf Open Portuguese Championship.

The competition will be named MARESIA NAZARÉ SURF PRO powered by TMN. It will be a 6 star Prime competition, with prize money of 6.500 €. According to Slide Sport, the company that holds licensing and distribution rights for the brand in Europe, “the decision to have MARESIA sponsoring the last stage of the Portuguese Championship is the beginning of a new project to innovate Portuguese surf.

Portuguese surf urgently needs an injection of positive and invigorating energy, in order to have the entire world finally realize the potential of Portuguese surf. We feel the need and obligation to do more and better for our surf, that is why we are so keen on bringing all the spirit and experience of Brazil (being one of the world mecas of surf).

We are confident that finally this will be a turning point in the way things are done in Portugal. We believe that, with this event and partnership, we can increase our potential and be more consistent, also because we have all the natural conditions to evolve and show what we really are made of.
