Lay day called for NSW Open Surfmasters Titles

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 3 July, 2009 : - - Kiama, NSW -- Competition has been called off today at the NSW Open Surfmasters Titles due to a distinct lack of waves on the entire south coast of NSW. With offshore winds of up to 30 knots and an abating easterly swell, there was no other choice to call off the event for the day, as the Kiama and surrounding beaches resembled a lake.

“The surf conditions were just way too small for quality competition today,” said Peter Hunt, Surfing NSW Operations Manager. “The conditions today are not befitting of the level of competitors competing at the event.” With the best 200 age surfers from around the state congregating upon the Kiama region, the weekend looks extremely exciting as a fresh south swell and offshore winds expected to bring excellent conditions.

“The outlook for the weekend is extremely promising,” Hunt added. “We are expecting excellent conditions and are anticipating some outstanding competition as 10 state titles will be decided over Saturday and Sunday.” For the confirmed running schedule, contest location and all information please visit www.surfingnsw.com.au or call the event hotline 0458247212.
