Billabong Pro Junior Bali

ASP Grade 5 Mens Pro Junior event
Keramas Bali, Indonesia
21 - 27 July 2009

Billabong Pro Jnr only ASP Rated event set to go on good swell at Keramas

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 July, 2009 : - - Australasia’s best Pro Junior surfers along with a quality array of international surfers from South Africa, New Zealand, Tahiti, USA, Malaysia, Egypt and Indonesia  are heading to Bali for the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Grade-5 Rated Billabong Pro Junior Bali.

This is Indonesia’s only ASP rated event during 2009 and it is the  event seven on the nine event  ASP Australasian Pro Junior Series circuit. Surfers and officials are excited leading into this event as a strong swell is forecast to arrive right on time into surfing’s most prolific playground of high class waves.

Indonesia has been pumping with perfect waves over the past month in a  trend that looks set to continue all week and organizers will do all they can to deliver epic conditions at Bali’s now famous Keramas surf break. The break at Keramas is perfect for performance surfing offering fast hollow barrels  along with numerous  sections that beg for massive power moves across an ideal reef that generally breaks best at sizes from 4 to 10 feet (2 to 3 metres).

Australia’s Dean Bowen summed up the feelings of all surfers enthusiastically heading to Bali today saying, “Surfing the Billabong Pro Junior in perfect waves with a waiting period in prime season is so good for us.” “It’s super exciting knowing there’s a swell forecast as soon as we arrive and competing at Keremas with just three in the water in perfect conditions will be amazing, we can’t wait to get it on” added Bowen.

In another first for ASP surfing competitors from Egypt and Malaysia have entered this event. Little is known about Angel Eman from Egypt or Mamat Daud from Malaysia but no one will be surprised to see these surfers ripping and super proficient barrel riders with skills most likely honed in Indonesian waters.

The large contingent of Indonesian surfers are certain to be extremely hard to beat in their own waves and high scoring extreme surfing is assured throughout this event. The event begins its waiting period on Tuesday July 21st  extending through to Monday 27th July.
