ASP Top 17 Join Forces With SURFING Magazine

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 July, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- The ladies of the ASP Women’s World Tour will be receiving substantially more press in the near future, having just inked a partnership with US-based media powerhouse SURFING Magazine. Starting with the November 2009 issue, SURFING will be instituting the monthly “GIRL” segment, a two-page spread covering an ASP Top 17 surfer, both in and out of the water.

“I am stoked, I love girls!” Travis Ferre, SURFING Magazine Editor-In-Chief, said. “But seriously, we’re huge fans of the girls on tour right now and this is a great opportunity for us to help get their stories out to the world. Not to mention it’s a chance to hang out with a bunch of girls who rip.”

As the first official print media supporter of the ASP Women’s World Tour, SURFING Magazine will provide ground-breaking coverage of the world’s best female surfers, offering audiences an intimate look into the lives of the ASP Top 17.

“I am pleased that the team here at SURFING has come together and realized the importance of supporting the women on the ASP tour,” Tony Perez, SURFING Magazine Publisher, said. “There are stories to be told and I am confident SURFING will help bring out the best in these girls.”

With 12 of the ASP Top 17 in Southern California for the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) 6-Star Hurley U.S. Open, the world’s best female surfers will be hosting an autograph signing tomorrow at 5pm in front of Huntington Surf & Sport on Main Street in Huntington Beach. SURFING Magazine will be on site, providing giveaways for the public.

“We’re absolutely honored that SURFING Magazine have stepped up to the plate to cover the world’s best female surfers,” Brooke Farris, ASP Women’s World Tour Manager, said. “Both as a group and as individuals, the ASP Top 17 provide a gateway to an amazing lifestyle as well as a kaleidoscope of dynamic storylines. It’s great that we have so many of them in Huntington Beach at the moment to meet and greet the fans, and we’re looking forward to a great partnership with SURFING.”

The first segment of “GIRL” will be rolled out in the November 2009 issue of SURFING Magazine, featuring none other than reigning two-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 21.
