Big Swells, Heavy Currents and Broken Boards. This is July?

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 August, 2009 : - - With all the international pros in town for the US Open that just finished, we've been shooting tons...but not editing them as fast as we'd like. In the coming weeks you'll see some of what we've been watching firsthand...big airs, smooth snaps and show-stopping performances.

This month we have a special photo feature called "The Most Unlikely of Places." What began as a simple midday shoot with Australian Claire Bevilacqua quickly morphed into a super session including Holly Beck, Rochelle Ballard, Rebecca Woods, Lee-Ann Curren, Kassia Meador, Sarah Beardmore, Kelly Nicely, Amandine Sanchez and Chanelle Sladics.

Up next are a pair of surf video clips of Hawaii's Shea Hodges and local girl Devon Holloway. Shea's video includes footage that we were able to gather while she was living in California. Shea is back in Hawaii now but I sure miss watching her launch airs around these parts.

Devon's video was filmed in El Salvador by Luke Thorpe and features guest appearances by Jeff "Doc" Lausch and Donavon Frankenreiter. Before signing off, I'd like to extend congratulations to Courtney Conlogue for her truly memorable performance in heavy surf at the Hurley US Open.
