15th Annual Clean Water Paddle on the Potomac
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 6 August, 2009 : - -More than 100 members and friends of the Surfrider Foundation will paddle surfboards, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and other non-motorized watercraft in the Potomac River from Thompson Boat Center in Georgetown to the base of the Key Bridge and back.
Paddlers will stop at Roosevelt Island and the mouth of Rock Creek to clean up trash. Educational materials, giveaways, and refreshments will be available at the Boat Center, courtesy of Surfrider, REI, DC Department of the Environment, EarthShare, and others.
PURPOSE: To raise public awareness of water quality issues in the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The water in the river is ultimately what we’ll be surfing in at the beach.

TIME: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
ADMISSION: Free. Non-members are welcome and invited to participate. This is a non-competitive event.
