Reid Inouye's 32 Mile Molokai To Oahu Paddle Raises $1800.00 For Hawaii Junior Lifeguard Program

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 August, 2009 : - - Honolulu -- The Hawaii Junior Lifeguards received a little bonus to their program as Reid Inouye representing both Paddle Core Fitness (a stand-up paddle workout program located in Honolulu) and Standup Paddle Magazine, (the Dana Point publication dedicated to the stand-up paddler), presented a check for $1800.00 as a donation from paddlers and businesses that supported his 32 mile journey from Kaluakoi, Molokai to Maunalua Bay on Oahu's east end during the Rainbow Sandals Molokai to Oahu crossing two weeks ago.

"The "Buck A Mile" paddle was one that was well worth the punishing crossing," Inouye simply said, and added,  "Watching these kids at Ala Moana Beach Park every summer and the effort the City and County lifeguards put out for the future of water safety is well deserving. I'm just glad I could give something back to Hawaii's ocean safety team."

But he couldn't do it without support. A big mahalo to Curtis Miyashiro from Dakine Hawaii, the crew from Paddle Surf Hawaii for the generous $15 a mile pledge,  Planet Sun Protection, Xcel Wetsuits, Vidration Water, Gary Shounk, Patrick Higashi from Paddle Core Fitness and Fox Lach from Standup Paddle Magazine.
