2D Art of 2day featuring dalek help raise money

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 August, 2009 : - - World-renowned fine artist Dalek (James Marshall) showcased 14 never-before-seen pieces in 2D: The Art of 2Day– an art exhibit at the SoHo Mixed Media Bar, on Friday, August 7 to benefit The Contemporary Museum (TCM). This event coincided with the monthly First Friday Art Walk and was sponsored by In4mation, Contrast Magazine, Hurley International and Sheraton Waikiki as a benefit for The Contemporary Museum.

Besides the obvious fundraising effects, this event also gave modern art a bigger presence in Honolulu. From 7:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Soho Mixed Media Bar was packed with a diverse age group of art lovers and party people. Photos of the event are attached to this press release and available to interested media.

In4mation and Dalek also designed a limited edition T-shirt and print to commemorate this historic event and benefit TCM. At the beginning of the night there were 50 prints for sale and by 10 p.m. over half of them were sold.  With every T-shirt purchase consumers received a one-year individual membership at TCM– Hawai‘i’s only museum devoted exclusively to contemporary art.

In addition, Hurley produced 50-pairs of limited-edition board shorts featuring artwork by Dalek. Although the final numbers are still being crunched, it’s safe to say that 2D: Art of 2day, Dalek and the sponsors raised a substantial amount of money for TCM.
