Ocean Mist hosts fund raiser to help Bill Conners Fund

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 August, 2009 : - - On Wednesday, August 26 from 6:00pm until closing the Ocean Mist in Matunuck, Rhode Island will host a fund raiser to establish the Bill Conners Fund  to assist the Narragansett Dept. of Parks and Recreation in developing and maintaining surf and skate activities within the town.

Bill Conners is a former surfer who filmed the evolution of surfing in Narragansett throughout the seventies and eighties. Long before video, showings of Bill's painstakingly edited Super 8 films were highly anticipated and much appreciated Rhode Island surf community events. Unfortunately, Bill's health has failed over the last few years and he now resides in a nursing home.

Funds raised at this event will first be directed to the restoration of Narragansett's skateboard park. Suggested donation is $10 although donations of any amount will be deeply appreciated. Local film makers/photographers Paul Murray, Joe McGovern and Steve Melodosian will be projecting choice samples of their work to open the evening which will also include live reggae music, swag, the premier of the new Brand X video and a showing of Bill Connors films.
