Country Energy Australian Surf Festival ready to go

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 15 August, 2009 : - - Port Macquarie, NSW -- As the largest surfing event in Australian history draws closer by the day, anticipation continues to rise in the lead-up to the Country Energy Australian Surf Festival.
 
With 23 Australian titles to be awarded in 21 divisions, and the best surfers across the nation ready to converge upon the wave-rich Port Macquarie region, the Country Energy Australian Surf Festival is set to begin tomorrow. The Australian Longboard Titles will kick-off the Festival with a bang - featuring a simmering selection of world-class talent.
 
Running as a part of the Country Energy Australian Surf Festival, the Australian Longboard Titles will see the best longboard riders from across the nation converging upon Port Macquarie. Country Energy’s regional general manager, Mid North Coast, Andrew Latta, is excited about the prospect that lies ahead.

“As an essential service provider, Country Energy is committed to supporting the local community through our financial and in-kind support of local events such as the Australian Surf Festival,” he said. Having been involved with the Australian Surf Festival since inception last year, Country Energy is proud to support such an important event for the Port Macquarie community as a major sponsor for 2009.
 
“The Festival is not only a great event for the local community that attracts visitors from across Australia, it also promotes health and wellbeing in the community. Commencing this Sunday, 16 August 2009, and running until Saturday 22 August, the Australian Longboard Titles will see competitors competing for 12 prestigious National Titles.

Following the  Australian Longboard Titles will be the Australian Surfmasters Titles, which will see the gathering of the best shortboard and stand-up paddle boarders in the country. Running from the from Sunday, August 23 2009 until Saturday August 29, the Na Papa Australian Surfmasters titles will see competitors battling it out for 11 prestigious National Titles.

In 2009, with an expanded festival program, The Country Energy Australian Surf Festival also boasts live music, surf art and photography, retro surfboard displays, surf film screenings and surfing education courses to appease the palates of all cultural enthusiasts, or just the humble surfer.
