Nelscott Reef lights up with first major swell of season

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 September, 2009 : - - On Saturday September 12th, Oregon's coast was hit with a a pre-season NW swell. Buoy readings were only 10'-12' @ 17 seconds w/ some 21 second readings, but the swell delivered a steady punch of unbelievable waves for the entire day.

From first light to sunset, it was a solid 12'-15' w/ bigger sets in the afternoon. The conditions were all time, tons of waves, with light off shores, warm skies and water temps in the high 50' to low 60's!

Local Oregon surfers Mark Builder, Tim Henton owner of Oregon Surf Shop , Dan Hasselscwhart owner of Ossie's Surf Shop, Ollie Richardson and Keith Galbraith along with frequent visitor Eric Akiskalian owner of Towsurfer.com from California were on deck sharing fun rides for the entire morning.

By 1:30 P.M. everyone had left the line up except for Keith and Eric and from that point on it just got bigger and better. The swell began to peak with the incoming tide push and it was a feast of amazing rides for the rest of the day.

Special thanks to Oregon Surf Shop manager and photographer: Ben Colliander, for taking the mid morning photos.  Visit OregonsurfShop.com and TowSurfer.com
