20 workshops, nearly one thousand visitors and an incredible spirit of surf culture
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 September, 2009 : - - The 'Surfing Art by Shapers' third edition took place in Seignosse the 9th to 13th September 2009, les Bourdaines, Landes, France, was a success. 20 workshops, nearly one thousand visitors and an incredible spirit of surf culture.
During the 5 days expo, people saw diversity, quality and passion of making a surfboard with the *French shapers*. The shapers were available for having argument with the public and introduce the action of work the foam with a shaping room made in the middle of the expo.
Master shapers from Guethary surfboards (Guilhem Rainfray) and Axel Lorentz (surfboard deluxe) showed their talent with their tools and experienced skills for a very interested audience. Just coming from Australia the artist from glasslove (Tristan) made a very nice decoration with pen and painting on a surfboard during the week end.
One hundred surfboard ‘made in France’ from the Normandy to the Basque Country were in the place.

*Labrador surfboard, Rob Vaughan, Surfodyssey, Ferrara surfboards, Barland, Spoutnik (Hsa), Mistic surfboards, Guethary surfboards, Jock surfboards, Ks surfdesign Axel Lorentz surfboards, Illegal surfboards, Luc Rolland, Blend Glassing, Kkl, Stark surfboards, Daniel’s longboards, Sonis surfboards, Rt surfboards, Glasslove, Guy Garcia (guitou) surfboards*, every style and every kind of boards were represented from 15’ foot longboard gun and very longboard to a 5’4 mini simmons twin; with painting, drawing, resin tint, pin line, polish, woody tail, woody fins…**
*Seabase* presented their ultimate collection of blanks, shaping tools, fins, and* FCS* *surf hardware* introduced their last innovation and research in fins construction and support the ‘jeu concours’ organised during the expo.
Moreover, *some boards from history of surfing* had been lended by collection of surfers.
Visitors saw very nice collectors lended by surfers *Peter Robertson*, *Pierre Menesson* and *Charly Barrieu* from Terry Fitzgerald (75), Mccoy, Aipa, Campbell bonzer, Barland/rott, Sdeck, a Duke surfboard made by Greg noll…..stocked !
Visitors (*Simon Anderson* came in !) were invited to be actors of the event with a wall of drawing. Surf and fins template on paper were offered to the audience’s imagination. Baby kids to olders could colored and hanging their works on a woody wall dedicated. More than 100 drawing were made !
Music was on the wall to with Worldwide *Dj Akwel and Davio*, rock concert at the *Cream café* with the *Golden tatas* took place on Saturday night and *Dubdiffuser* and the band came back for the last on stage of the expo.
The *Combi cruiser club from Hossegor* lended wv combi van (65 split, 73, 77) a surfboards buggy and a Mexican cox inside the show. The spirit of road trip was on ! The *‘Coloriage’* factory offered the action on t-shirt made for the event (collector !) and the *Sivom* lended the place. For conclusion, the organizers *Sylvain Thiery* and *Lionel Moulon* decided to get on the next edition for 2010.
Everybody felt delighted, happy for sharing a passion, showing their work, having argument with public and visitors happy for meeting the shapers and spending good times.
