Queensland’s Best Watermen/Women Prepare For the Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 22 September, 2009 : - - Gold Coast Queensland -- Surfing Queensland is proud to announce that Roar Industries will sponsor the exciting 2009 Ultimate SUP Challenge this November. Once reserved for Polynesian Royalty, Stand-Up-Paddleboarding or SUP as it’s more commonly known has reached the masses, with aspiring Laird Hamilton’s taking to the water in droves throughout the region.

Roar Industries in conjunction with Surfing Queensland will host the single-division specialty SUP event, which incorporates two separate disciplines of Stand-Up-Paddleboarding.  Open to both Men and Women, The Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge will involve both a SUP race and SUP surfing competition, with the added challenge of competitors using the same board in both disciplines.

The multidisciplinary event will begin with a surfing competition, which utilises the SUP judging criteria with competitors being judged on how they utilize their paddle to push into waves and execute manoeuvres.  Secondly, competitors will be required to complete a two-kilometere paddle course involving both flat and ocean conditions.

Paddlers will race from Currumbin Creek out through the waves and around an ocean buoy, before heading back into Currumbin Creek, around the M1 Highway Bridge and back to a finish line at Winders Park.  The Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge will be held over one-day on November 21.

The Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge is proudly supported by Roar Industries and Surfing Queensland.
