No competition in the first day of Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 28 September, 2009 : - - The surfers will have another day to train in the waves of Tombo Beach, the first day of Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro was called off this morning, with a new call made for tomorrow at 8am (Brazilian Time). With 20 heats expected to be run tomorrow, 80 surfers will heat the water and the forecast indicates good waves for the whole week.

This will be the first of two 6 star events of ASP South America in the next two weeks in Brazil and worth important 2.500 points to the great winner.

"We are in final preparations to leave the entire structure ready for the contest and we have a great swell coming. In addition, athletes who did not know here, today they have a chance to train in this good conditions at Tombo Beach" said Ricardo Batanero, marketing manager of Local Motion, who brought back a WQS Event to the city of Guaruja after 12 years.

“It is a very proud for us of Local Motion to see the circus set up, all the athletes, staff, press and the waves are here, so this will be a show of surfing”  added Batanero.

17 COUNTRIES – The 2009 Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro will have 144 surfers from 17 different countries, the majority is from Brazil with 87 surfers and the best brazilian in the ranking, Jadson Andre is confirmed, also with Australians Owen Wright and Matt Wilkinson and Americans Patrick Gudauskas and Brett Simpson who will be the top seeds.

After Brazil, The Americans are the second largest contingent in the Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro  with fifteen surfers, Australia has twelve, South Africa 8, Hawaii 5, Porto Rico and France has  3 and Mexico 2. Them we have Japan, Spain, Ireland, Tahiti, Reunion Island, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Peru and Chile with just one surfer competing in the waves of Tombo Beach.

The 2009 Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro is presented by Suzuki Cars, with a realization of Guaruja City Hall and The Ministration of Turism and Culture of Brazilian Federal Government, with the support of Mr. William Woo and Tent Beach, Surf Trip, Surf Xpress, Cannel Bay, Pier 7 Surf Shops, and Sufresh, Vibe and Steam, with the organization of ASP South America, Sao Paulo Surfing Federation and Event Tools Promotions.
