Cornish crisp sales support Surfers Against Sewage

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 October, 2009 : - - Holidaymakers, pub goers, snackers and foodies in Cornwall, Devon, Bristol and London have been helping Surfers Against Sewage keep our seas clean and safe for recreational use by buying bags of The Cornish Crisp. The Cornish Crisp Company supports the environmental campaign group by donating a penny from every packet sold of the company’s salt & vinegar flavoured crisp, The ‘Agitater.’

4415 bags of The ‘Agitater’ salt & vinegar crisps were sold between the 1st June and 1st September. Sue Wolstenholme, Managing Director of The Cornish Crisp Company said: “ We have had a bit of a bumpy ride during our first three months so we are thrilled to be making our first donation to Surfers Against Sewage as they are such a great cause. Sales are really picking up now so we expect to see much higher donations being made in the future.”

Rachel Barclay from Surfers Against Sewage said: ‘We're delighted to have the support of the Cornish Crisp Company. All donations will help to support our clean water campaigns and our work to protect surfers and waveriders around the UK. To help ensure no bags are left on beaches and end up the sea, the crisp packaging also carries an anti-littering message to encourage people to dispose of their bag carefully when they have finished their crisps.
