Renato Galvao jumps from 70th to 37th
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 October, 2009 : - - Coolangatta -- Renato Galvao from Brazil is back in the winner’s circle with his victory in the Local Motion Pro at Guaruja in Brazil. Renato’s only previous WQS win was back in 2004 at the 4* event in Newquay, England. Renato has now jumped from 70th to 37th on the ratings.
The other high placers were fellow finalist Pat Gudauskas and both Brandon Jackson and Pablo Paulino in equal 3rds. The biggest mover on the ratings, although he did not change his rating and stayed in 3rd was Owen Wright. Owen increased his point score from 13,588 to 14,338 with his 5th place finish to secure a spot in 2010 Men’s Dream Tour.
Most other surfers remained the same with Glenn Hall jumping from 16th to 13th and Brandon Jackson from 31st to 21st with their equal 5ths results. On the ratings the current Top 5 are looking safe for 2010, then from 6th onwards its a very close race with any semi or final a keeper and anything less not enough to allow for any big movement upwards.
Keep an eye out for Blake Thornton, Luke Munro and Rodrigo Dornelles to make some big moves. Brandon Jackson from South Africa, just outside the top 20 is also a chance to keep moving up the ratings if he keeps his good form going.
Current Top 20 are: Ross,Daniel AUS 1 14975 Andre,Jadson BRA 2 14813 Wright,Owen AUS 3 14338 Gudauskas,Patrick USA 4 13551 Melling,Adam AUS 5 13026 Wilkinson,Matt AUS 6 12150 Duru,Joan FRA 7 12050 Thornton,Blake AUS 8 11925 Simpson,Brett USA 9 11863 Logie,Travis ZAF 10 11851 Ware,Austin USA 11 11575 Payne,Dusty HAW 12 11425 Hall,Glenn IRL 13 11200 Cardoso,Willian BRA 14 11151 Munro,Luke AUS 15 11139 Gudauskas,Tanner USA 16 11125 Atkinson,Dion AUS 17 10563 Yeomans,Nathan USA 18 10550 Zubizarreta,Gony ESP 19 10351 Dornelles,Rodrigo BRA 20 10350
