British & International Kneeboard Champs

British & International Kneeboard champs to hit St Ives

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 11 November, 2009 : - - The 2009 British and International Kneeboard Surfing championships will be taking place on the 14th and 15th November at Godrevy, St. Ives Bay. This year the championships will be incorporating an international event with surfers travelling from Spain and South Africa to compete.

The British championship is a yearly event which attracts the top kneeboarders in the country to compete for the national title.  Local surfers to watch out for will be Karl Ward - reigning champion - and Richard Smith - former champion - and former Pro Junior World Champion.  The event will have two possible venues to allow the surfers to access the best conditions the weekend offers.  The primary venue will be Godrevy, and the back up venue is Porthmeor, St. Ives.

Saturday will see the British Open, which will decide the British champion. Alongside this there will be an AAA event which is for surfers knocked out in the first round of the Open, the idea of which is to encourage more surfers to give competitive surfing a try.  The day will be finished with an expression session giving the best surfers and opportunity to show off their most exciting surfing.

Sunday will see the start of the International Competition when our top British competitors will pit themselves against surfers from other countries.  This will be followed by a tag team event were surfers compete against each other in a relay format.
