Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge

Currumbin Alley Gold Coast, Queensland
21 - 22 November 2009

Big Name’s Confirmed For This Weekend’s Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge!

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 November, 2009 : - - Gold Coast Queensland -- Some of the biggest names in Australia’s ever expanding Stand-Up-Paddleboarding community will converge on Currumbin Alley (Gold Coast, Queensland), this weekend for the 2009 Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge.

Masters of the craft including James Watson (Burleigh Heads), Woogie Marsh (Peregian Beach) and Paul Jackson (Palm Beach) will be showcasing their extraordinary SUP skills as they, along with a field of up to 50 competitors compete for glory in one of Queensland’s and Australia’s most exciting SUP events.

Open to both Men and Women, The Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge will involve both a SUP race and SUP surfing competition, with the added challenge of competitors using the same board in both disciplines. The multidisciplinary single-division event will begin with a surfing competition, which utilises the SUP judging criteria with competitors being scored on how they utilize their paddle to push into waves and execute maneuvers.

Secondly, competitors will be required to complete a two-kilometere paddle course involving both flat and ocean conditions. The overall event winner will receive a prize package from Kahuna Street SUP including: 1 x 48" Rasta Kahuna Street SUP and 1 x 5'6" Regular Big Stick.

Also, a randomly drawn brand new Naish SUP will be awarded to one lucky competitor on the day. Accommodation discounts are still available though the Surfing Queensland online entry page thanks to Connecting Southern Gold Coast.

The Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge will be held over one-day on November 21. The Roar Industries Ultimate SUP Challenge is proudly supported by Roar Industries, Connecting Southern Gold Coast and Surfing Queensland. Limited entry sports are still available, however positions are filling quickly with interested competitors encouraged to enter before the event’s entries close at 3pm Thursday, November 19, 2009.

For all enquires including entry information visit surfingqueensland.com or call the Surfing Queensland Head Office on Ph# (07) 5520 1165.
