A collaborative project between mesurf and Conspiracy Theory
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 17 November, 2009 : - - The FACES OF SURF project aims to visually capture the true spirit of surfing along with...Surfers, Spectators & Locals. Placing faces inside a light tent in front of a lens, in the natural surf environment, shot and sent on their way. So that what you see is what they left behind...
FACES OF SURF is a new project mesurf has begun working on with the talented crew at the Plummer/Kennedy Conspiracy Theory.
"We wanted to capture surfers, locals and onlookers alike as they engaged in the Manly Festival of Surf. Using a special portable light room, we were able to capture people in the moment and allow the photo tell a story about 'me', the surfer in front of the lens." - mesurf
The first event was kicked off during the Manly Festival Of Surf and during the four days over 300 people were photographed. A selection of images were placed up in local bars and café’s for people to see.
You can check out the full display of images at mesurf.com.au. To help celebrate the launch of this new project, Filtrate eyewear are giving away a pair of sunnies every week to those on the email database. Mesurf will be running caption contests weekly, and the best caption wins a pair of Filtrate sunnies. So make sure you sign up to the mesurf newsletter to win a pair.
Stay tuned, more to come in 2010…
