Great surf for the Butterfish competitors

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 November, 2009 : - -  Wow, the Butterfish events rock! The kids are always in full effect for this series of VQS events and there never seems to be a dull moment. Usually the Groms are lurking in the dark waiting to be the first ones to sign up in the morning before the tents are even erected. But with the frigid conditions, the kids were nowhere to be seen as we had our first look over the dunes at some fun 3-4ft clean peaks going off up and down the beach.

It seemed as if the Groms had all over slept and rode the same bus together to the contest, cause all at once it was like a stampede of Oompa-Loompa's swarming the tent to sign up. Once everyone was accounted for we were underway for the day. In the Groms division, little rippers Charlie Fawcett and Vinny Leonelli battled it out until the end of the final with Charlie edging out Vinny by a count back for the win, a towering bag of goodies and Volcom beach cruiser.

In the Girls final Demi Boesterli was the shoe in for the win, but Catherine Clark used her sneaky cat-like reflexes and stole the win and 1000 points towards qualifying for the VQS Champs. The Juniors division was another close final, with Kent Nishiya edging out the pack for anther win. Blake Howard had some crazy voodoo spell put on last season, as he couldn't seem to snag a win to save his life.

Lucky for him the curse was broke as he took the win in the Pro-Am division, $500 cash and the lead in the over all points race to qualify for VQS World Champs coming up in May 2010.

Thanks to CHIPOTLE for providing an insane lunch for all the competitors! Special Thanks Goes Out To Our Product Sponsors: Electric Visual, Fuelt TV, Riviera Skateboards, Chipoltle, Skull Candy, DVS Shoes, Vestal, Pro-Lite, X-Trak, Magma Wax, Future Fins, Famous Wax, Speck Products, EBoost, Surfing, Surfer, Transworld Surf, Bliss Mag..
