The anti-canvas art show/auction at soho mixed media bar
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 November, 2009 : - - Hurley International and Contrast Magazine present The Anti-Canvas: an art show/auction for charity on Friday Dec. 4, 2009 at SOHO Mixed Media Bar which is located on 80 South Pauahi Street.
This event will be held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk and all of the proceeds will benefit Save Our Sports, Junior Lifeguard Program and the Samoa Disaster Relief Fund. Hawai‘i-based and North American artists will display their stunning work on a pair of Hurley board shorts that will be auctioned off during the December First Friday Art Walk.
Lisa Johnson, Winston Smith, Alex Gray, Bob Dob, Robert Williams, Ron English, Alex Pardee, Jason Maloney and Big Foot are the mainland artists donating their work to this charitable event. While Teddie Scott, Nat Wooley, Jeanie Chesser, John Thomas, Basil Sakamoto, Jon Mozo, Allen Mozo, Carlos Constantine, Fitted Hawai‘i, Troy Gomes.
Haj Gollestani, Katch 1, Clark Little, Eukarezt, Heather Brown, Honozooloo, Kristen Lee Lim, Mark Kushimi and Kuha‘o Zane are the local artists whose work will be showcased alongside at The Anti-Canvas. Hurley will utilize a “sublimation” process to make a one-off board short with the art that will be auctioned off for the charities.
This manufacturing method uses a heat transferring process that preserves the integrity and details of the design. This event promises to be a unique experience to join art and youth communities in Hawai‘i for a great cause. Please see examples of the artwork and Hurley shorts attached to this press release.
