Martin Dunn, Mark Richardson, Grant Hudson & others to help secure another world title

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 November, 2009 : - - Surfing Australia is excited to announce the coaching team to lead Travelsim Team Australia to a possible fifth consecutive ISA World Championship Title in Piha, New Zealand.

The Australian team will be lead by head coach Martin Dunn (Old Bar, NSW), Mark Richardson (Currumbin, QLD), Grant Hudson (Port Macquarie, NSW), Team Manager James Eggington (Byron Bay, NSW) and Physiotherapist Tim Brown (Mermaid Beach, QLD).

Head coach Martin Dunn commented “We have another fantastic group of coaches and staff that have the credentials and experience to take Australia to another world title.”

“I am honoured and excited as the coaches begin working closely with the athletes at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre to make sure they are in the best possible condition for the ISA games.” Australia is in a strong position under the leadership of Martin Dunn who has worked with Australia’s champion surfers over the past 25 years producing 14 World Championship Tour surfers.

Dunn will be complimented by Mark Richardson, Grant Hudson and James Eggington who were all members of the 2009 World Champion Australia Team and Physiotherapist Tim Brown who has travelled with the Australian Touch Football Team (1992 – 1999) and the Australian Swimming Team (2000 – 2006).

The next step for the coaches is to select an Australian Team of 12 surfers from a squad of 24 surfers who will attend a selection camp at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre from December 19th – 22nd 2009.

“The High Performance Centre located at Casuarina on the Northern New South Wales Coast is the perfect location for Team Australia’s selection and preparation. We have access to great waves in idyllic conditions complimented by cutting edge facilities that allow athletes to prepare mentally and physically for the competition without distractions ”  said HPC Manager James Eggington.

Surfing Australia CEO Andrew Stark further commented “We always look forward to seeing the best junior Australian surfers wearing the green and gold for this great country.... We are all excited to send our team over to New Zealand with high hopes of bringing the gold back across the Tasman Sea.”
