Second jewel in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 November, 2009 : - - The waiting period for the second jewel in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing - The O'Neill World Cup - starts today. A new swell is on the way and there's a good chance the event will kick off at Sunset Beach tomorrow!

O'NEILL WORLD CUP OF SURFING

Prize purse: $145,000
Celebrating 34 years in 2009.
Defending champion: CJ Hobgood, USA.
Event dates: November 24-December 6, 2009, will run on the best four days of surf during the period.
Event rating: Men's 6-star Prime World Qualifying Series event. Will have a major impact on final year WQS rankings.

The Wave: The venue that is known to make or break a champion. A deep-water spot of ferocious power and uncompromising volume. This wave demands spontaneity as it lurches and heaves with unpredictability. It promises a ride of unparalleled adrenalin or a wipeout you’ll never forget.
