Super Typhoon Nida (26W) tracking across the Philippine Sea during the next day or so
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 26 November, 2009 : - - As of Thursday morning, EST, the center of Typhoon Nida was located near 15.5 north and 139.7 east, or about 345 miles west-northwest of Guam. Nida has sustained winds of 165 mph with gusts around 200 mph. The storm is moving northwest at 12 mph.
Nida will begin to make a turn toward the north, then northeast, over the next day or two while gradually weakening. As Nida moves through the Philippine Sea, islands in the region should be on alert for heavy seas, rain and gusty winds from the storm. Nida is expected to pass near Iwo To Saturday night or Sunday.
Elsewhere in the Western Pacific, no tropical development is expected.
