Big Swell Heading For Islands, 30-40 Foot Waves Could Hit North Shores On Christmas
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 December, 2009 : - - North Shore, Hawaii -- Hawaii's north and west shores are getting ready for another series of huge surf with a high surf warning in effect. Big wave surfers are in for a Christmas treat. Light winds and overhead surf made for a great start to the building swell.
The surf so far this season has been described as the best in years. "It's been the best since 2004, I just hope it comes clean and with not much wind and everyone can have fun and nobody gets hurt" surfer Johnny Lopes said.
Wave heights are anticipated to build through Wednesday morning up to as high as 25 feet and subside over the day. Another swell is forecast arrive on Christmas morning with waves in the 30- to 40-foot size.
Maybe we'll see a repeat of conditions like this in the 2009 Quiksilver Eddie Aikau
Surf Forecast for O'ahu - Pat Caldwell.
